The Skills Development Project (SDP), financed by the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Nepal, will support the Government to implement key aspects of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Policy 2012. The project will be executed by the Ministry of Education and implemented by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) through a Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
The SDP will help the government (i) initiate strategic sector reforms that aim to improve overall sector management and performance, (ii) improve quality and relevance of public training, and (iii) increase private sector engagement in training delivery and job placement. Each intervention has been designed to increase the efficiency and result-orientation of the TVET system, making it more market-driven. The impact of the project will be increased employability of the Nepalese workforce. Its outcome will be the establishment of a market-responsive and social and gender-inclusive TVET system.
Training and employment placement services will be delivered across the country through Developmental regions and district.
